The Challenge
A complex quoting process was slowing the business down.
ProVeyance Group is a North American company with two subsidiaries, Woodsage, a manufacturer of conveyor system rollers and related products, and Ashland, which assembles conveyor sections and systems.
As ProVeyance expanded its manufacturing capacity and product lines, its existing manual quoting and estimating process became increasingly difficult to manage.
Because its products are highly customized, quotes could take anywhere from one hour to several days to complete. Costing and pricing logic also relied heavily on internal knowledge, requiring sales representatives or engineers to know how to calculate the cost of individual components and manufacturing processes.
A single standard assembly could include anywhere from one to 12 component items, with each component potentially involving several manufacturing processes.
The Solution
Bringing complex product configuration into NetSuite.
ProVeyance worked with Bryant Park Consulting to implement NetSuite Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) for Woodsage's straight rollers, tapered rollers, and fabricated products.
CPQ replaced the manual quoting process with a structured configuration workflow that generates accurate pricing and professional quotes based on predefined features, components, and variations.
The configurator dynamically guides users through available configurations while calculating:
Component costs
Labor costs
Sales prices
Component compatibility
Routing step compatibility
Run rates
Setup times
Users can also assign descriptions, markups, or discounts to the final assembly configuration.
Connected Data
From scattered spreadsheets to a single source of truth.
Before CPQ, much of ProVeyance's costing and pricing information was scattered across different systems, computers, and spreadsheets.
With CPQ integrated into NetSuite, Woodsage could access existing NetSuite data, including item records, manufacturing cost templates, and work centers, within a single environment.
This gave the team a consistent source of information for configuring products, calculating costs, determining pricing, and generating quotes.
CPQ Functionality
Flexible configuration for engineers and sales teams.
Standalone Mode
Engineers can configure "what-if" products and review cost and price breakdowns without creating a customer transaction.
Sales representatives can also configure products, save configurations as favorites, and share those favorites with other users who have configurator access.
Transactional Mode
Sales representatives can launch CPQ directly from a customer quote, configure the assembly item, and submit it back to the quote as a line item.
Woodsage uses CPQ to configure assembly items with dynamic Bills of Material. For made-to-order products, each line item can receive its own BOM, cost, price, and description.
Base Generic Products
CPQ also supports predefined assembly items that can be reused as templates. This helps Woodsage avoid "item bloat" while maintaining the flexibility required for customized products.
Once a quote is approved, an engineer reviews the configuration and creates the resulting item in NetSuite.
Implementation
Out-of-the-box functionality, built for long-term autonomy.
With Bryant Park Consulting as its CPQ implementation partner, Woodsage was able to use 100% of the solution's out-of-the-box functionality.
Bryant Park Consulting provided light scripting for calculations and conducted multiple training sessions to give the manufacturer greater autonomy over its CPQ toolkit.
The team was able to build its business logic within the NetSuite CPQ framework rather than relying on extensive customization.
The Results
Faster quotes. More strategic teams.
CPQ significantly improved the speed and efficiency of Woodsage's quoting process.
Sales representatives can now complete basic quotes and send them to customers much faster. In some cases, quotes can be completed in a day or less, without requiring the sales representative to send the request back to engineering.
This has freed engineers to focus on more complex quotes and strategic opportunities while giving the sales team faster access to the information they need.
With cost, pricing, cost templates, and work centers connected within a single ecosystem, CPQ can work from current and accurate information to support faster, more reliable quoting.
Client Perspective
"Overall, CPQ has been a big help for our quoting team."
Mark Brown
Woodsage Project Engineer
Mark Brown also highlighted the value of Bryant Park Consulting's training and the team's ability to understand what could and couldn't be accomplished within CPQ.
BPC Perspective
"We help Woodsage maintain, troubleshoot and extend the system as it adds products or product streams to its existing CPQ system."
