A leading website building and e-commerce platform moves its FP&A organization off a legacy planning tool onto a unified, scalable NetSuite Planning & Budgeting model.

Squarespace: Rebuilding Financial Planning on NetSuite Planning & Budgeting

One Unified, Scalable Planning Platform

Squarespace is one of the world's leading website building and e-commerce platforms. As the business scaled, its finance organization grew with it - and so did the number of cost centers, product lines, and allocation rules that needed to be planned for consistently every forecast cycle.

At a Glance

  • Client: Squarespace - website building & e-commerce platform, founded 2003

  • Industry: Software / SaaS

  • What BPC built: Custom NetSuite Planning & Budgeting (NSPB) model

  • Timeline: Live in 23 weeks

  • Key result: Unified, scalable planning platform across a large FP&A org

The Challenge

Squarespace's FP&A team had been running on a legacy Adaptive Planning environment. As planning needs grew more sophisticated, the setup became harder to administer and extend - routine changes required significant manual rework, and there wasn't a clear, repeatable process for updating it as the business evolved. Product-level profitability was hard to see clearly, since indirect and shared costs weren't allocated consistently, and workforce, customer operations, and product views lived in separate, disconnected logic instead of one structured framework.

How BPC Helped

Squarespace moved to NetSuite Planning and Budgeting (NSPB), drawn to its tighter integration with the broader NetSuite ecosystem and its SmartView connectivity with Excel. Bryant Park Consulting led the build - and managed the harder part: moving a large FP&A team off a system they'd used for years, through working sessions, hands-on training, and iterative validation cycles that gave the team room to build confidence in the new models.

Custom IP

  • Personnel allocation model distributing expenses by planned headcount

  • Customer operations allocation model assigning support costs to marketing areas

  • Product profitability allocation, mapping the full income statement into product views

  • Standardized Smartforms for consistent onboarding across planners and business units

The Impact

  • One unified planning platform aligned with Squarespace's broader NetSuite ecosystem

  • Standardized allocation logic, replacing disconnected models and manual adjustments

  • Clearer visibility into product-level margins and cost drivers

  • A more controlled, repeatable forecast process that scales without a rebuild

"Allocation logic that used to require manual reconciliation every cycle is now embedded directly in the planning model - consistent, repeatable, and no longer dependent on one person's spreadsheet."

What's Next

The transition off a legacy planning tool is rarely just a technical migration, and Squarespace's project was no exception - what made it work was a close, collaborative relationship between the two teams throughout. Squarespace and Bryant Park Consulting are now focused on deepening adoption across finance and operations, building out additional management reporting around product profitability and cost-to-serve, and continuing to refine driver-based planning as the platform matures.
